Cuff-links are coming back in style - and as us guys are getting into our accessories more for everyday wear, cuff-links are often being worn in a more casual manner, without a tie! I felt that cuff-links seemed the perfect "next step" in the continual evolution of the Soxfords line, and decided to take some of my favorite artwork to rework into this new accessory.
Coming soon (hopefully early June!), these cuff-links took about six months to pull together. From sending the initial artwork over to our factory, to receiving prototypes, to waiting on the final product. I reworked the initial construction multiple times, perfecting the highly detailed enamel cloisonne pieces so that were nicely weighted, well-constructed, and focusing details such as "mirror image" molds so that the cuff-links both face the correct way when worn.
Next up was the sourcing of our display boxes. After a few rough starts, I finally happened upon a supplier who had connections to a factory skilled at jewelry box design. That only took 3 months, sigh. I wanted a very particular look and functionality, in our newly minted style. The solid black contrasts nicely with the bright clean white - and lends a nice backdrop to the whimsical cuff-link or tie bar contained within.
I learn something (quite a few somethings) with every new design or item launched - and these cuff-links were no exception. I hope you enjoy the work that went into them, and enjoy the subtle, lighthearted humor they'll add to your style!
Cheers!
-Ryan
